Nvidia Nvs 4200m Max Resolution For Vgalasopatask



So I have nvidia optimus on my Thinkpad T420 and I installed nvidia-prime and nvidia-384 proprietary driver. My intel graphic card works perfectly. I cant switch to my Nvidia card via Nvidia X Server Settings, I must do it with 'sudo prime-select nvidia' but then when I restart the computer it shows a blank screen with white underscore that blinks a couple of times then stops. I can access the virtual console with Ctrl+Alt+F1 and switch to intel and reboot.
I got nvidia-384 driver to work on Xubuntu 17.10 but I can't do it on Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia. I tried many things, manually purging then reinstalling completely, installing an older nvidia driver, using the Driver Manager, setting

  2. Oct 26, 2012 I have a Latitude E6530 with NVS 5200M. It connect to a Samsung SA850 27' monitor through the hdmi port (with a hdmi to dvi adapter). The monitor supports 2560x1440 but the 5200m card can only set the resolution to 1920x1080. In windows 8, all text on the 27' monitor looks a bit blurry.
nomodeset in grub config, creating a display setup script for my display manager from https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NV ... y_Managers. I always get the blank screen. Here is dmesg output I piped into a text file from the virtual console when I got the blank screen.
