WJFL Pod

Paulsboro 27, Salem 13: Bhaysul Tuten rushed for 161 yards, caught five passes for 59 yards, scored three touchdowns and delivered several big hits on defense as the Red Raiders finished off their first undefeated season since 2002.

WJFL Week 8

Audubon 49, Gloucester Catholic 19: Gavin Bunt rushed for two touchdowns that broke up a tie game and gave the Green Wave a 14-point lead. Audubon's final scoring play was a pass from junior quarterback Sean Driscoll to senior Josh Bobo. The Green Wave won their final six games, closing out one of their best seasons in their history at 7-1.

Haddon Heights 42, Sterling 27: Zyaire Goffney-Fleming rushed for 280 yards and four touchdowns on 22 carries as the Garnets polished off the visiting Silver Knights. Heights quarterback Ryan DiOrio threw a pair of TD passes as the team bounced back from its first loss of the season last week.

Haddon Township 30, Princeton 6: Luke Dayton's 52-yard touchdown reception opened the scoring in the first quarter while Jario Padin, Ethan Eife and Graham Dodlick added rushing touchdowns over the next three quarters as the Hawks finished their season with consecutive wins.

Penns Grove 36, Highland 15

St. Joe-Montvale 36, Cherokee 35: The Chiefs battled back from a 20-point deficit in the first quarter to take a lead but would fall short in their showdown with the fifth-ranked team in the state. Senior quarterback Billy Osborn threw for four touchdowns, including two to senior wideout Caden Burti. Burti's second scoring grab, a 53-yarder, gave the Chiefs a 35-30 lead in the fourth quarter.

Triton 56, Pennsauken 53: The Mustangs overcame a 36-point deficit in the second half to pull out the victory. Pennsauken had a chance to tie the game in the closing seconds but a field goal attempt fell just short. Triton, which took its first lead of the game with under a minute to play, will take a two-game winning streak into its Thanksgiving Day showdown with rival Highland.

Friday

WJFL Pods

Holy Spirit 21, Lenape 7: Devin Lee came into the game in place of star running back Patrick Smith and sealed the win for the Spartans in the WJFL unofficial championship game. Lee scored on a 27-yard run to blunt a potential Indians comeback and added an interception late for good measure.

Smith scored on an 80-yard run with 30 seconds left in the first quarter then added an 11-yard score before halftime. He had 177 yards at the break but gave way to Lee midway through the second half.

Lenape clawed back to within a touchdown early in the fourth quarter when Tyler Davis pulled in a deflected pass from Brady Long and went 65 yards for a TD.

Williamstown 6, St. Augustine 0: Brendan Amico had a 27-yard field goal with 8:48 left in the first quarter. Amico added another from 22 yards as the quarter ended. That was all the offense necessary for the Braves to win its WJFL pod championship.

St. Joe-Hammonton 13, Hammonton 0: Ja’son Prevard capped a 10-play,93-yard drive with a nine-yard catch from Cohl Mercado to seal a win for the Wildcats late in the third quarter.

Ahmad Ross scored from 12 yards out late in the first quarter to give St. Joe’s a lead they would never relinquish. Jahqir Henry paced the defensive effort with three interceptions in the shutout.

Middle Township 13, Gateway 10: Jerome Licata made a 25-yard field goal as time expired in regulation, then won the game in overtime with a 20-yard field goal at the Panthers staged a fantastic finish.

Guided Reflection Protocol

Ryan Rossmaier opened the scoring and gave the Gators their first lead with a 32-yard field goal in the third quarter.

Middle took its first lead on a fourth-quarter Brett Nabb two-yard run. The Gators answered with a 49-yard pass to Deshawn Woodall by Michael Scambia to set up the late game heroics.

Millville 49, Egg Harbor 13

Pleasantville 18, Atlantic City 14: Eric Strecker (13-for-35, 224 yards) threw topuchdown passes to Jaheem Frederick (5 catches, 101 yards) and Jayden Jones (4-for-89) but the Vikings didn't come out on top. Horses misbehaving pose pack river oak saddlery saddle.

Robbinsville 15, New Egypt 2: The Warriors held a 2-0 lead through three quarter on a punt snap that traveled out of the end zone. Tien-Amir Siplin scored on a 10-yard run and Michael Sturz caught a 19-yard pass from Jack Kolbe to give the Ravens the win.

Shawnee 44, Sparta 25: Matt Welsey threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more as the Renegades won their first game of the season under bizarre circumstances. Welsey connected with Ian Van Steeg for 59, 34 and 16 yards and took it in himself from nine and one yards to help Shawnee comeback from an early 7-0 deficit.

Dean Bialous bulled in from two yards out and Oliver Stern kicked a 32-yard field goal to finish off the scoring.

Guided Reading Workbook

The Renegades had less than 18 hours to prepare for the Spartans after their scheduled game against Rancocas Valley was canceled due to COVID concerns late Thursday. Shawnee bussed two hours to face the 5-2 Spartans.

Steinert 17, Bordentown 0: Dennis Morolda threw for 62 yards and Omari Owes had 42 yards on nine carries the but Scotties never four the end zone. Cody Young (23 carries, 203 yards) scored both Steinert TDs.

Washington Township 37, Eastern 29: Liam Friel opened the scoring with a 17-yard run then after a safety added another TD run to give the Minutemen the lead for good. Friel then hit Jaden Allen with a 50-yard pass before Jo'Nathan Silver took over the scoring duties.

Silver returned a punt 38 yards for one score and sealed the win with a 12-yard TD run.

Thursday

Lower Cape May 30, Overbrook 7: David Land had 22 carries for 128 yards and a 10-yard touchdown for the Rams.

Riverside 28, Lindenwold 16: Alex Birriel broke open a close game with a 30-yard fumble return in the third quarter. Khy’ Moore had a pair of touchdown runs for the Rams. Ivan Ramos added an 18-yard TD to secure the win for the Rams.

Josh Salter tied the game at 8 just before halftime with a 3-yard run. Michael Busbee broke a 61-yard run in the fourth quarter for the Lions.

West Deptford 37, Woodbury 6: Aaron Graeber ran for a touchdown and threw three TD passes, including two to Cody Thurston to lead the Eagles to a comfortable win. Graeber (6-for-7, 92 yards) found Tyler Yates for the other TD.

Brady Clark added a 27-yard field goal and Jermar Jones (10 carries, 110 yards) added a 60-yard rushing TD in the win.

Anthony Reagan had six carries for 82 yards and the Herd touchdown.

Week 8 Reflectionguided Reading 101

Willingboro 21, Timber Creek 14: Demie Sumo scored on a five-yard run with 84 seconds to play to lead the Chimeras to a comeback road win. Sumo converted a fourth down earlier in the winning drive. ‘Boro trailed by a touchdown entering the fourth quarter but cut the lead to a point with a fourth-down Ah-Shaun Davis quarterback sneak with nine minutes to play. The 2-point try was stuffed at the line of scrimmage.

Sumo gave the Chimeras a first-quarter lead on an 11-yard TD pass from Davis.

Guided Reflection Examples

Donovan Leary knotted the game at 7 with a 2-yard sneak, then Marcus Miller recovered a blocked punt in the end zone to give the Chargers a 14-7 lead heading into halftime.
